It's nice to see Amanda being quite humble and sensible about the whole thing, both about getting the part and preparing for it.

Yes! I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. Here are some recent posts from my LJ: Amanda Seyfried interviewed with CNN: "You just continue to train your voice," she told CNN. "You go to the doctor a lot and you stay away from dairy. That's all I can do right now. I know all my songs like the back of my hand." Eddie Redmayne spoke with AdelideNow.com.auRedmayne admits to a certain amount of trepidation over Hooper's plan to capture all the vocal performances live on set.
"It's a wonderful idea because if you do it the other way, you record something in a studio and a few months later you record a music video on top of that and any acting choices you want to make spontaneously on the day must fit with what you've already set down," he says.
"But the challenge... is that if you do 20 takes you have to sing 20 times, so it'll be tough, but I think - and I hope - that it's for the best." And here is a text version of the video interview with Amanda.

I like her, I've decided. She's really nice about it and it does fill me with hope that she's had classical training hehe

Yes! I'm crossing my fingers for her -- and for all of them really And I have a few more movie news-related posts on my Live JournalThey are going to use English accents for the film. Don't know if that means we'll get Cockney Thénardiers. As an American that always bugs me, but I understand that to a British audience it would make no sense for the Thénardiers to talk like prim and proper Brits.

Does anybody know when exactly they'll start filming? I have heard March 5th, but I am not sure.

Who's the guy below Hugh Jackman? Another shameless plug for my LJ: digne.livejournal.com/tag/les%20misOn it you'll find: Taylor Swift has spoken about Les Mis recently and it also appears that the U.S. release date has changed to the same weekend as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. "Put that in your pipe and smoke it Gandalf!" I'm still waiting for it to be confirmed but if it's true, it may mean that they are hoping for another The Dark Knight vs. Mamma Mia! scenario. Both films were released the same weekend in the U.S. The Dark Night took the No. 1 spot at the box office but Mamma Mia! still made a fortune, particularly in the U.K. where it beat Titanic to become the U.K.'s highest-grossing movie ever. ( Mamma Mia! also became the highest-grossing musical film worldwide, and became the third highest-grossing musical film in the U.S.) But the question is about audience crossover. Mamma Mia! and The Dark Knight really weren't after the same audience. So the question is are Les Misérables and The Hobbit trying to appeal to the same crowd? It could help that the films are being released around Christmas, a time when a lot of people go to the movies.

I'm sorry but in that situation I would prioritise The Hobbit! I could actually see how the two films would appeal to the same type of people even though they're very different in topic. The atmosphere is likely to be much the same.

I'm a HUGH fan of Richard Armitage, but when it comes to a choice between Richard and Les Misérables. Les Misérables wins no questions asked! Playbill just confirmed a bunch of names for the filmSacha Baron Cohen (as Thenardier) Daniel Huttlestone (as Gavroche) Gina Beck Bertie Carvel Killian Donnelly Daniel Evans Fra Fee Hadley Fraser Katie Hall Linzi Hateley Michael Jibson Chris Key Alexia Khadime, Adrian Scarborough Caroline Sheen Katy Secombe Jos Slovick Hannah Waddingham Gemma Wardle This is still unconfirmed but I'm almost sure this girl will be Young Cosette: Georgina Jackson. Read the story and look at the photo. It's gotta be Young Cosette.

It sure looks like it. It's great to see that it's finally happening! As far as I recall, we have known about the movie for ages, and now they are finally filming. And I am really looking forward to photos/posters and trailers from the movie. But it will most likely take a couple months before we get photos, and trailers probably won't be out untill autumn. Or late summer at best. Wouldn't you say so too?

They are filming now, however we can't be certain if this talk about a Hugh-Russell fight was something they actually filmed, or just rehearsed. Russell had said filming wasn't suppose to start until today (March 19), whereas Hugh had tweeted filming began March 8. It may be the March 8 filming just involved Hugh (maybe chorus as well?) while Russell's first day actually filming was suppose to be March 19.
Who knows ...
As for trailers, I'd say late summer at the earliest but I could be wrong. Photos may pop up a little earlier (probably on the set-type photos at first and then movie-scene photos). The one thing I am still worried about it post-production. Their schedule is really tight, too tight, they are going to need multiple post-production crews if they are going to meet their release date. This is probably the reason for the release date change -- in these things extra days, hours can make a world of difference. Still, it does make me wonder why they didn't start filming three months earlier to save themselves the post production crunch. They'll probably have to run double crews (which will add extra expense).
But with them recording the singing live, they really need time to get all the audio mixing right.

I was just thinking that after re-reading where you said about the Hobbit. I'm not sure how realistic their getting it ready by then is but I don't mind waiting ^^

Well, a Christmas release would be important. They are not going to do nearly as well at the box office if they wait until say February. They'd have to put it off until May at the earliest. I don't mind waiting. I just want a good film. But I think the studio may not feel that way. As I was saying yesterday about photos: See a photo from the set: Hugh Jackman barely recognisable on the set of Tom Hooper's new film version of Les Miserables. It looks like they shaved his head, or else they gave him a bald cap of some sort. It does look like a bad shaving job.
