Lol, I'm going to have to start spelling out his name from now on then. Oooh, yeah, definitely! Right, so I'd cast either Ramin or John Barrowman as Enjolras... Actually, maybe Ramin as Marius and John as Enjolras? Do you think Ramin would make a good Marius?

I can't see him as anything other than Enjorlas because I've seen him play that. However, I think he probably could!

Excepting the fact that there has been a movie planned for ages and at the 25th anniversary it was mentioned that this was going to be moving ahead soon. I can't remember who said that though... Makes it all sound promising -squee-

It looks like it may actually happen this time. Cam Mac said he signed the deal with Working Title in that BBC backstage at the 25th Anniversary Concert with Matt Lucas. As for the non-musical film versions. Almost all of them are terrible. Don't even get me started on the Liam Neeson one. I hate the whole thing, but especially the ending Jean Valjean would never stand there and watch Javert kill himself and then run away happy about it! . (huh? Does this version of Proboards not have spoiler tags? I changed the type to yellow because as a stop gap.) The Gérard Depardieu one is OK. The Les Mis films I've seen: -- Frederick March -- Jean Gabin -- Jean-Paul Belmondo (WWII) -- Richard Jordan -- Gérard Depardieu (English one, I'm yet to track down the French version) -- cartoon (Just for Kids) -- Liam Neeson The only ones I rewatch are the Jean Gabin and the Jean-Paul Belmondo one. The Jean Gabin one has several big problems (some of that may be because all I've ever seen is the English dubbed version of it: see clip here -- same scene in French: here) but the barricade scenes are awesome!!!!! And the Jean-Paul Belmondo one isn't even a "real" version of the story. It resets the whole thing in WWII and is about a man who discovers his life is similar to Jean Valjean ( Trailer). There's lots of great LM humor in that version. I love the scene where one character tries to argue that Thénardier is the savior of Les Mis. At the end of the day -- as they say -- the musical is still the best. Edit by Havanah: I've just added the spoiler tag. It seems to work if you use the button on the reply page. I'm going to have a mess around with it and check why it went wrong!

Lol, I know exactly what you mean. If they hadn't cast her then I would have loved to see Catherine Tate take on that role... but HBC is so wicked! ;D

I would never have even thought of her but when I saw she'd been cast I just thought that she'd be so right for the role. I'm half looking forward to half dreading this film.

At least with Hugh Jackman we'll get a good Valjean. I think he'll be amazing in that role, I don't know why. And I do hope I'll be pleasantly surprised by Russel Crowe. I never knew he could sing(or at least what kind of voice he has), so that was a big surprise. Oh, and Geofrey Rush is supposedly considered for Thenardier! It would be fun to see him with HBC! I can so imagine him playing that kind of character. And funnily enough, he played Javert back in 1998.

And Eddie Redmayne has now been confirmed as Marius in the movie version of the musical! OMG!!!!!! I am so happy right now! I just adore that guy, and I really think he'll do a great job. I am surprised that he can sing, which I have read somewhere else that he can. Never knew he could.

There were rumors of Karimloo being in the film... I think he hinted at it at the show I went to but I've definitely heard it somewhere.

Really? I didn't know that. Probably Enjoras, his star part. Would have been interesting to see, actually.

Don't take that as fact because I cannot remember where it came from and half of these things come to nothing but yeah, I'd like to see him in it.
