I just wanted to know. No need to hurry or anything. Just curious.

I thought about starting a thread like this so I could rant about it. It's coming on alright now. I had real trouble translating the next part for some reason but I've got some (not as literal as usual) translations that work now. Someone else asked me this question on dA and I said that I think I could get the next part up by Sunday.
Good news is, to try and get over my translating 'block' I've started to do part 13 so that shouldn't take too long afterwards ^^

Hey, it me, Helena:D Really can't be bothered to log In with my iPod... Anyhoo, been meaning to ask Havanah- how do you put subtitles on a DVD? Or vid? Or whatever it is you're doing? Also *warning, slight whinge* does anyone know why they bothered putting English subs on the special edition version of the DVD, but not the actual show? Seems rather pointless to me... Huh, maybe they need to ask you how to do it?

I really have no idea why they didn't bother putting subtitles on the DVD when the bonus material has subtitles. Perhaps it's because they thought those who buy the DVD know the show so well and won't need subtitles.

So they expect us all to learn german? ... Fair enough... after what was done to Tanz, I can kinda see where they're coming from there... BUT STILL!!! Thank God for OiaHavanah!

Yeah, after Tanz, it should definetly get people to learn german. But again, we can't know what they were thinking when they made the DVD. The show really should be subtitled, even though some of it was quite easy to understand for me.

I use windows movie maker to hard sub them (the subtitles actually become part of the video) It's not the most high tech and I have different programs that I use to make videos although I never upload them!
If you were wanting to add subs to a DVD then there are subtitle making programs out there that make sub tracks like you get on a pro DVD. I started Elisabeth on one of them but youtube, despite apparently accepting the file type, wouldn't upload.

"Dreaming and writing poems, or riding with the wind..." That for example...

Also, how do you get the video on windows in the first place? I started Elisabeth on one of them but youtube, despite apparently accepting the file type, wouldn't upload. Mmm... I made a phantom music vid, in windows movie maker, and it wouldn't accept it... bother...

Erm, how it works... wonders of modern technology? Basically, all that means is that the subtitles are a part of the image rather than on normal DVDs where you switch them on and off and they're an overlay that goes over the image. A subtitle track is the overlay type subs you get on DVDs - it's the actually subtitles in that case. Getting the video onto windows - rip the DVD. I got sent it by a friend so I didn't do the ripping part but that's where it came from in the first place.
If you need help with WMM and youtube, feel free to PM me ^^

Aaaah, now I get it! Hmm, I made a vid of phantom: I think it was to.. "what if" from "A christmas carol" I long since gave up on it though- the clips of the film were keepvidded off youtube, and they never worked properly- kept blacking out and whatnot... *sighs* shame though- I spent three days working on it... Ah the joy of subtitles... Hmm, don't you worry that youube will take your vids down, or worse: delete your account? It's a great thing you're doing, but youtube can be very irritating on matters like this....

I have all the videos backed up. I doubt that they'll take them down to be honest because they haven't taken down the others. If they do then that's a risk. I'm not doing it to stop sales - on the contrary, I try to help people to be able to buy related items - so I don't feel bad about it. If I got a request to take them down myself I would do because ultimately only the subbing is my own.
