Nice that Sierra is confirmed - it would have been a bit mean for her not to after all the work she's done with it! Also, I do think she will be fantastic in the role. Really excited for this!

So Sierra WILL be in Rebecca? Awesome! I agree, it wouldn't be right if she didn't get the part after all the work she's done. I really think she'll be amazing. It's the Broadway production she'll be in, right? I heard Rebecca will be on both Broadway and West End, is that right?

It was going to be in the West End but that got cancelled (I think it was due to start last Feb there). Haven't heard anything about it having been rearranged though.... I hope so ^^

It would be great if it got to the West End. I would love to see it, and London is easier to get to than New York But we'll have to wait and see. Is it only Sierra who has been confirmed? I heard talk about Hugh Panaro, but was that only the rehearsals/workshops they have done until now?

I have just listened to some of the songs from the English demo(about time!), and I really don't understand why they have changed the melodies around. "Nur ein Schrit" is suddenly set to "Rebecca", "Mrs. de Winter bin Ich" is changed to "Du wirst niemals eine lady". Why on earth is that? I do hope they change it back before it goes on Broadway. It just won't be the same otherwise.

Yes, so far Sierra is the only person confirmed for the show. We must wait and see for the rest I have just listened to some of the songs from the English demo(about time!), and I really don't understand why they have changed the melodies around. "Nur ein Schrit" is suddenly set to "Rebecca", "Mrs. de Winter bin Ich" is changed to "Du wirst niemals eine lady". Why on earth is that? I do hope they change it back before it goes on Broadway. It just won't be the same otherwise. No worries. The English Demo was made some 3 years BEFORE the Vienna production. So they didn't change it for the demo, they changed it for Vienna and are -- no doubt -- keeping the Vienna changes.

Yeah, they will be methinks. As, I think, the only one who's seen the Hungarian adaptation (the other version lol) I'm going to say that is sticks to the Vienna score tightly (which is pretty unusual for their adaptations!) so I recon the English one will too even if some songs are cut for race reasons

Rumor mill says that the upcoming Stuttgart production will the bases for the U.S. version. So that will be something to watch (That is, if you weren't already distracted at the idea of Thomas playing Maxim! ). I'd posted earlier on this thread that a friend of mine on LiveJournal interviewed Hugh Panaro shortly after the U.S. reading back in March. And from him she learned that "Die lieben Verwandte" and "I'm an American Woman" were not included in the reading. And although its not confirmed it's probably a safe bet that "Wir sind Britisch" is cut as well. So it's a good guess that those songs aren't going to be in the U.S. version, although it will be interesting to see if they are in the Stuttgart version. There's also a rumor there'll be a new song for "I" called "Free Now."

It's only tiny, but Broadwayworld.com had a small interview with Sierra Boggess. With one question about Rebecca: Now you're off to start work on Rebecca, which we're hoping will head to the West End after a US launch. We open in America in the spring of 2012. The creatives really believe in it and love it - and I want it to do everything that should happen for it. I'm so looking forward to getting started.

I am really looking forward to more news from the show. It feels like forever till the premier, so I hope there will be more news soon on casting, rehearsals, promo shots and trailers, interviews and stuff like that.

Thanks for the links, digne! It's great to be able to stay in touch with a show to see how it's progressing. Especially a show that I love as much as Rebecca.

You're welcome! A few more useful links for news that I remembered later:Official website (I wonder what's behind the password protected "Executive Summary"?): www.rebeccathemusical.com/The American producer's website (very out of date): www.globalbroadwayproductions.com/Vereinigten Bühnen Wien's News page: www.musicalvienna.at/index.php/de/presse---------------------------------------- My very rough translation of Kathrin Zechner's comments from the VBW site: "It is a big challenge and joy at the same time to bring a Vereinigten Bühnen Wien production to Broadway. The VBW will be entering a hot and desired market, not to say the “cradle of the musical”. The role of “I” is being filled by Sierra Boggess. Her casting sets the yardstick for the entire cast. In addition, I am particularly pleased that the Shubert Theatre Group -- one of the most prestigious Broadway theater operators -- not only rented us the Broadhurst Theatre, but joined us as a co-producer. This underlines the high quality of our musicals REBECCA even more. " Also the story says the rest of the cast will be announced in "the next few weeks."

Personally, I never got www.rebeccathemusical.com/. I mean, it's been there for so long, the least they can do is update it, make the main website for information on the show. But I hope there'll be more there in the future.
