My personal favorite is Steve Balsamo from the 97 revival. His Gethsemane is one of the best ever!
What a voice!

Hmmm... I don't think I have one, really... I have the recent DVD, and I think I saw bits of the original one... but, meh, no personal opinion really. Don't get me wrong, it is a very good musical, but we did it last year at my school... and after hearing it all so many times, when I wasn't too keen on it in the first place... It did improve my view of it, but I find that performing a play, or musical, tends to give you a completely diff opinion of it.... However, on our last performance, all of us off stage were in fits- just at the end, when Jesus has the sheet thrown over him, and the lights go down... well, Jesus thought the lights had gone down, when they hadn't... so he got up, covered in blood, and just...walked off stage!

Lmao! Ah, that's brilliant... Wow, Steve Balsamo has one hell of a voice! That was amazing. I first discovered this musical via the cast recording featuring him, so that was a special treat. I also adore Ted Neeley in the role. I was lucky enough to see him live in JCS when he was last on tour in LA. Such a phenomenal performance! And of course there's also Daniel Boys: To my knowledge Daniel hasn't been in JCS yet, but I have my fingers crossed.

Oh, oh, oh!
Dolhai Attila is fantastic in the role. I think he did play in on stage recently too. Actually, that video's not the best I've heard him do it but oh well ^^
However, I must admit that Glen Carter just works for me in the role. He has this serene appearance that works very well and he has a very good voice ^^
