I think there should be a Tudor-dynasty musical. Henry 8th's reign is so full of drama. It could be done a bit like Elisabeth. There are also some books that could be made into musicals.

Hmm, that's an interesting idea. The Philippa Gregory books immediately come to mind, but then it would be more about the women in his life. If we're looking at a musical based on the Tudors, I'd love to see one about Lady Jane Grey. It would probably have to be based on the 1980s film, however, so wouldn't be at all historically accurate... I'm still wishing for a Doctor Who or Torchwood musical. That won't ever happen though.

Nodame Cantabile would make an AWESOME musical. Since the show already has wonderful music, I think converting it into a musical show would be very cool and would make sense! The characters are awesome and comical---Monty Python eat your heart out. ^_^ Synopsis: An elite meticulous musical genius and a messy out-of-control pianist. This unlike pair somehow matches up and together with a group of colorful young classical musicians and an eccentric world-famous conductor, they start to create the most unique wonderful world of music. They are all against the conventional orders and rules, and try to make the most of their lives with humor and passion for music. Each character has a special (or weird) story to tell and they confront with each other hard and unite strongly. Based on a popular comic, this is a hilarious comedy with brilliant young ensemble cast and full of great classical music. After reading Jane Eyre when I was really young, I thought, "Wouldn't that make a great musical! I will write it when I'm older (Wishful thinking! )" And then years later I found out that someone else had already written one and I went on a rant about how that was my copyright!!! I thought of it first!

There are at least four Jane Eyre musicals. One was written in the 1950s. I've seen two of the others. And recently a fourth came out.
I have a friend who thinks that Gregory Maguire's Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister would make a good musical. Maguire also wrote Wicked.

I've read it. As a musical though I'm not sure, if it was done right it could work.
