So, what if Elisabeth ever went to Broadway or West End? Who could you see in the different parts?

What a question!! I'd love to see Kerry Ellis give Elisabeth a try but I'm not sure what her range is like. If she could hit the notes like Maya could then it would be ok, she wouldn't need to try the high ones that Pia does. I'm not a fan of the girl who is playing her at the moment on tour, she screeches. but I have to say, she can hit that top note well. Sierra Boggess could probably manage it well too. As for the rest...mmm not sure.

I'll have a think when I get back (about to go out) but I can certainly see Sierra Boggess as Elisabeth. Her Christine is one of the best, I think.

And Ramin Karimloo as Death, eh? Oh, well.

With sierra as leading lady, he'd have to be, they're practically inseparable.

I really think he'd be a good choice. Fantastic voice, terribly good-looking, great presence on stage. Just what Death needs.

I wanted to say that too but I wouldn't agree with casting the two of them together. That would be asking for people to try and compare Elisabeth and Phantom even more than they do.
I tell you who COULD play Elisabeth is Carolyn Maitland. I think she's only done understudy roles so far but I saw her playing Lucy in Jekyll and Hyde and she has a fantastic voice and great presence. Can only find videos of her in Legally Blonde though which doesn't showcase this side.

I actually think Mark Evans would make a good Death. Maybe I'm just biased though.
As for Elisabeth...I find that really hard to cast. However much I love Kerry, I don't think Elisabeth suits her voice or range. I'd quite like to say Gina Beck. Her soprano is pretty awesome.

Anyone with the range to play Christine could sing elisabeth but in my opinion, the reason maya hakvoort and pia douwes were so successful was because they could act a more mature character and yet give a credible attempt at being sisi as a little girl.

I sort of think the combination of Sierra and Tam would work, close enough to suggest PotO but not *quite* the whole way that Sierra and Ramin do. Sierra and Ramin would draw a little too much PotO comparison.
Really the role of Elisabeth is a high alto role. I'd look more at actresses who've played Fantine in Les Misérables rather than Christine in PotO (ex: both Maya and Pia have played Fantine). I think the acting comparison is closer too.

I hadn't thought of that before. Without the high D-flat at the end of ich gehor nur mir, its a very high alto-mezzo role but if you add that note in, it needs a good soprano to do it justice. Personally, I think that if they have an actress who can sing a good mezzo range, they don't need that note, it can go so badly wrong sometimes.
