I think I'd prefer if it stuck to the novel a bit more, I just didn't get the whole dracula/mina relationship. Its not in the book. Other than that I love it, especially 'zu ende'.

I agree. I simply don't understand why they always feel the need to put in a romance between Mina and Dracula. It's never in the book! They should instead put in a romance between Mina and Jonathan or/and Arthur and Lucy, which would be true to the book.

Ditto! That would make a lot more sense. Forcing a romance between Mina and Dracula seems to tame the threat Dracula presents. I think this makes the whole show less dramatic. Nevertheless, I can't help being inexplicably fond of it. Good news for anyone out there who also likes the English version of this musical. The English cast recording is finally being released! It's only been what, four years? Something like that... Anyway, I recently received an email from the people in charge of releasing the music. The soundtrack is available now for digital download and an actual CD is forthcoming. Anyone else thinking of buying a copy at some point?

This musical is growing on me. I'm beginning to like it more and more. Has anyone noticed that theres a bit in Ein Leben Mehr that sounds really like Finish What You Started from Rudolf Affaire Mayerling. They're both Frank Wildhorn I suppose.

Yeah, you can usually tell if a piece is by Wildhorn. He has a way of writing that's really specific so although songs are quite different they sound very similar (if that makes sense at all).
I was listening to the Rudolf soundtrack with my mother the other day and she was pointing out all the songs that sound like 'This is the Moment' from Jekyll and Hyde.

The English cast recording is now available on CD! ;D
Haven't ordered my copy yet as I'm currently broke, but hope to at some point in the near future.

I heard the English version a long time ago, and in some places it's so different from the German version. Sometimes even better, I think. And I agree, I am not that fond of the English lyrics either, which seems to be a typical Wildhorn problem. Or is that just me?

I love Jekyll and Hyde and I also enjoy Wonderland and Rudolf. Obviously with Rudolf being a concept it is rusty because it's not polished and Wonderland is a bit to cliche American for my taste ("Somebody shoot me, oh my God I'm running late again" springs to mind. It really makes me think of the American prep stereotype we have over here!) but I don't think they're awful in general. Not the best though.

One thing I have noticed is that they used Ein Leben Mehr in an unusual way. The first time I heard that song I thought "Okay, so this is where Dracula seduces and bites Lucy". But they staged it SO differently, having the song AFTER Lucy becomes a vampire. I think that's a sad misuse of the song. It would be very effective if Lucy lies sleeping and Dracula takes her away and finally bites her. Am I the only one who thinks so?
