So, LND is now being taken of the West End. Its last performance is in August as far as I recall. And I cannot say I am very surprised. I haven't seen the show, but judging by the soundtrack it has a lot of flaws, especially since it's a sequel to one of the most popular and loved musicals of all time. I am not saying LND is a bad show. I somehow like it despite its many flaws.

Yeah, 27th August.
I do want to see it before it closes. I wonder if I could talk some friends into going with me even though tickets are expensive...
Edit: My mother just said she'd go with me even though tickets are £67. We'll see anyway

I actually listened to this the whole way through for the first time today. It's nowhere near as bad as I thought originally. Sure there are some disasters cough (the plot) cough. I wish I'd got to see it. Between Devil take the hindmost, till I hear you sing, beneath the moonless sky and dear old friend, it shows that it has potential. A little less terrible vaudeville music and more musical reference to the original show and it could work.

I've finally got around to watching it (on DVD), and since have managed to listen to the full original soundtrack too as I could only dip in and out beforehand. I was actually really rather impressed with the storyline. I was expecting something quite awful and convoluted and that wasn't what I found at all. I can believe that Christine might have found out the Phantom once again, maybe not with the intention of sleeping with him, as she's been so close to him for so very long (and I do think she loved him on some level). I can also believe that she would have slept with him as there were signs of this chemistry between them.... AND it seems that the Phantom might have left through fear of her judgement or through love for her as there were signs of this aspect of his character at the end of PotO. The rest seems like a really natural progression for me and I must say, I loved Raoul's character progression! Musically, I find that it's different to Phantom (which has been a big complaint, I think) but I really enjoyed it. 'Beneath a Moonless Sky' is truly amazing and I have been listening to it really frequently... it's caught me. I also really like 'Dear Old Friend', 'The Beauty Underneath', and 'Devil Take the Hindmost' in both its forms. I did not enjoy 'Til I Hear You Sing' at all on the DVD but that's because I couldn't bear the acting of the person who plays the Phantom. He overacts so much, in my opinion, and had me laughing at points that could have made me cry! Having heard Ramin sing it in concert I know it's a much better song than he turned it into. Anyway, there's my mini essay
