I guess we all have them!
What do you think your favourite version of Elisabeth is and why?
I really love the Vienna revival (the DVD version) because there isn't one member of the cast that I dislike in the slightest and I love most of them too! Mate and Maya being two of my favourite singers! I think the choreography is great too although I cannot help laughing at Mate's little wriggle during 'Der letzte Tanz'!
I must admit that I do also love the Hungarian versions as they give the musical a whole new slant. I really wish I understood more Hungarian than I do!

I have a tendency to like the first cast I experience in a musical. So Maté(a very sexy Tod ;D) and Maya will always be my favorites, though I abesloutly adore Pia Douwes! And I also like Uwe Kröger as Der Tod, as well as Jesper Tyden as both der Tod(his presence on stage is AMAZING!) and Rudolf. And of course Serkan Kaya as Luchini is great as well.

This is a hard question! Okay, I like the Vienna revival only for one reason only Serkan Kaya...he really made the show for me. He had a lot of charisma, energy and plus he was loads of fun! What I would've given to see him in the role live. The rest of the cast was awesome too, Mr. Kamaras was a spirited Death and hawt to boot. ;D Maya's voice was awesome with a lot of depth. Brilliant! Also, I liked the first Dutch production of Elisabeth!!! I really do! My favorite Death Stanley Burleson was beyond brilliant! I'm trying my darndest to find more footage my Stanley as Death with other actresses besides Pia as Elisabeth. Another fav is Mester Tamas he's voice is sooooo sexy! -fangirl squeal- Thank you for starting this board! I have some fanfics that I'll be posting here so stay tuned!

I have to say the Vienna revival cast. They were the first I watched and I really liked. I do like the Thun (I like that's what it's called, it has Willeijn Verkaik in it anyway) finale, and other finales in which Death carries Elisabeth off, just dumping her on the floor seems a bit heartless.

There are clips on YouTube with Burleson as Death, and you are so right, he is absolutely magnificent. Really frightening sometimes, but that is sort of the point.

*is shocked* HE WHAT??? i've heard all the songs now, but not seen the vids.... Why Tod, WHYYYYYYY? I don't know! He kind of just puts her on the floor and steps away and his angels of death (? I don't really know what they are) take her away. That's just about the only thing I dislike about that particular cast. The finale. It's just...more romantic for him to carry her off. And, for me, preferably without the turn back to look at the audience. Simply because I think it looks like he's saying, "Ha! I have her now!"

Mmm, the death angels, yep, know what you mean.^^ Theyre like little mini-tods! (whicj means I just HAVE to link to this: chepseh.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=72#/d28a3lxSo he just ditches her? What ever happened to Ich Liebe Dich, (Elisabeth, Mach auf Mein Engel?!) Hehe... I have her now... EHhe... Triumphant Tod is Triumphant... Well, I am all for the more romantic ending!

I think that he does that because in the Vienna version he still doesn't possess her. He has her for a fleeting second but he knows that she's going to move on and she cannot belong to him. The opening is very obviously in past tense which always gave me shivers because it has added this idea that he's fighting in vain for me.

Mmm, I always thought theyw were in some kinda limbo that lucheni calls up in the beginning. So when they say "even here you are seperate from us" maybe she has "gone on"?

That's a good reason, that he can't have her, only in the seconds that she dies. But surely, if he's been after her for all that time, he wouldn't just let her go that easily? But then again, he may understand that she never really his to have in the first place. It's really quite sad, at least in the other one, it's like they actually get to be together in the end. But this one is just tragic.

But this one is just tragic. Well, it is tragic- its a musical all about love and death... and we're all sympathising with death! Ironic really, when you think about it... I just sit there, going Ooooh! Just kiss already! Wait, no! Cos then... AAAAARGH! I think I would like to think that as death can screw around with time and space as he pleases (as seen during "Der Letze Tanz" I would like to imagine that the whole of Der Schlier Faalt (yes I kjnow I spelt it wrong) can last for as long for them, as he decides... Just because we don't see it, doesn't mean he didn't set aside an eternity for them to be together, locked into a split second...

Just thought I'd say that they are credited as Death Angels so yeah, you're right ^^ And I'm glad that someone posted the Petite Mort fan art before I felt the need to!
As for the ending, I don't know, I like the tragedy of it. I like the fact that she got her freedom too. However, the Takarazuka wins as far as I'm concerned for ending - seriously, the finale is about half the length of the musical. Actually I love the ending to the Hungarian one too!

How very Time Lord of him. *grins*
I like the tragedy of this finale. The way it comes full circle by focusing on the instant Lucheni kills himself somehow completes the show, I think.

Oooh, what happens in the Hungarian and Takarazuke versions? *watches as pretty little idea that didn't have much of a chance in the first place is shot at: wounded. It begins to flail madly...*
